Michaels is an amazing place to work and grow! I began my career with Michaels almost 20 years ago, starting as a Framing Department Manager and crafting my career into a District Manager for the past 14 years. I have been fortunate to have so many incredible leaders and mentors that helped me achieve my career goals, and forge relationships with such truly talented individuals at Michaels. I feel blessed to be able to continue in those footsteps and help develop the next level of leaders for our organization and take us to the next level!
If anyone told me my high school job would turn into a prosperous career, I would have told them they were crazy! But here I am, 25 years later, doing what I love to do... lead and develop people to achieve amazing things! I grew up with Michaels, both professionally and personally. This place has seen me though graduations, breakups, marriage, the birth of my three little humans, and many more of life's ups and downs. Michaels is more than a job. It is a place to make connections. To make friendships. To make people happy. To make other's lives sparkle with glitter! Do things get hectic? Sure they do. But at the end of each day, I can say I've made a small difference in the lives of those I've helped, those I've developed, and those I've made smile!
In 2019, we launched Michaels Resource Groups (MRGs). These voluntary, Team Member-led groups raise awareness around diversity and inclusion, support Team Member engagement, development, and inclusion, support our Great Place to Work initiative and drive business growth.
The Team Members and the Executive Sponsors of our MRGs volunteer their time to connect and include others with similar interests, backgrounds and shared experiences. MRGs host internal events which raise awareness and provide Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) development for our Team Members, participate in focus groups to provide perspective for our business partners and also serve as Michaels ambassadors by participating in external D&I events in the community.
Michaels has partnered with Project Sunshine to bring joy to pediatric patients and their families during their hospital stays. Project Sunshine brightens the days of hospitalized kids and their families through the powers of play, creative expression and connection.
Internally, we support an initiative for Michaels employees called Michaels Cares. No matter the job title, we’re here for one another when crisis arises. We’ve helped more than 3,200 Team Members with over $3 million in employee-funded grants.
We believe that internships cultivate a stronger business. Our interns are valuable contributors on challenging and immersive projects that directly impact our success.
