To keep up with the development of new pharmaceuticals and medical devices, more clinical studies need to be conducted – which is a challenge in the healthcare setting due to limited time and resources.
Contract research organizations (CROs) are vital in bringing together industry, healthcare, and regulatory agencies to design and conduct clinical studies. By enabling clinical research, more patients will have access to better healthcare in the future.
One example is an ongoing clinical study at Skånes University Hospital (SUS) in Lund where a new minimally invasive method is being evaluated for removing brain tumors with a laser technique developed by Clinical Laserthermia Systems AB (CLS AB). This technology makes it possible to treat patients with difficult-to-reach brain tumors, who were not able to be treated previously.
Clinical research is invaluable and there are many reasons for carrying out this type of research. The most important aspect is of course the benefit to the patient, and that the latest clinical research becomes available to all patients.”
